Wardrobe Malfunction

You say you like my dress?

What's that UNDER the dress, you ask?
Oh, that's just my cardigan sweater.
You guessed it... My daddy dressed me. My mom didn't see that I had a sweater crammed under my SHORT SLEEVED dress until the day was over and I was getting ready for a bath. When my mom asked my dad why I had a sweater under my dress he told her, "Don't lay it out if you don't want her to wear it." Her response? "I did want her to wear it. OVER the dress!" MEN!

Randomness

  • We had a show down at our house on Saturday. Lately, every time I tell Lennox to do something, he says "No... because I can't" or "No... because it's not working" or "No.... I can't like to!" I am sick of it. I have been explaining (repeatedly) that he is not to talk back or talk ugly to adults. When I tell him to do something, he doesn't need to respond he just needs to do it. Well, that's going over really well. So, Saturday I was cleaning and I told him to pick up his trains. "No, because I can't." Well, yes you can so pick them up. "No, because No." Uh... pick them up. "No, because it's not working." On and On. So, after a good face to face explanation and my "I'm not playing with you" tone, he still can't, won't, no, not, this, that.... So he stood in the corner (twice). Still, he can't do it because "he can't like it." Ok, meet Mr Spoon. Remember him? You do? Ok, pick up the trains. Still he says, nope, not going to, not doing it, no mommy, no this, no that... I want daddy, I miss daddy, it's not working, blah blah blah. Well, I really didn't know that telling him to pick up 3 Thomas the Trains was going to turn into an hour long battle (it really lasted an hour) but I had to stand my ground. This child is HARD headed!!! Seriously. I really almost lost my cool. Well, I will admit, I did lose my cool. But... I got myself back together, calmly put him in his room and told him he could leave when he picked up the trains. It took a while but, I won. On Sunday, the sermon was about Love and how real Love is patient, is not easily angered/provoked, is not rude... Yes, thank you Lord, I got the message! Being a parent is such a struggle sometimes. I really just wanted to pick up the trains myself and go play but then what lesson would he have learned? That is doesn't really matter what mommy says, you don't have to do it.
  • Lennox has a few quirks. The major quirk as of late is that nothing can be broken including food, circles drawn on paper (the ends have to touch), boxes that don't close properly, etc. If you give him a piece of cheese, it better be a square and it BETTER NOT tear. Or, he can't eat it because 'it's B-R-O-K-E-N!" waahhhh. Or, if you give him a "nolar bar" it better be in two pieces, broken in a straight line, one big and one tiny (Do NOT break it in half!)... or he can't eat it and it goes in the trash. Lately, I've noticed he eats his cheeseburgers in a straight line across... like I would think Pac Man would eat. He doesn't eat sandwiches like that though, not yet anyway. I know I shouldn't but I try to cater to this particular quirk just so less food gets wasted. He really won't eat it!
  • My niece is 13 (but thinks she's 24) and her FB status said "what's a sock hop?" The responses were ridiculous but one of them said something like "my mom said it's like a dance with poodle skirts, like from the 80's!" HUH? The 80's? Really? Am I really that old?! Are kids really that clueless? Better yet, are kid's parents really that dumb?!
  • Stella is the SWEETEST baby ever!!! She has the sweetest personality. She must get that from her mama!!! ha ha

The Family Tree

Me (leaving my parents house) - "bye daddy!"
Lennox - "No, that's not a daddy. That's a pop!"
Me - "Yes, but Pop is also my daddy and Meme is my mommy."
Lennox (scowling) - "NO! They're not... no."
Me - "Yep and mommy has a brother just like you are Stella's brother. Do you know who it is?"
Lennox (with his happy, I definitely know the answer face) -"Yeah. I do... Mrs. Kristen!"
Me - "uh... no. But good guess? It's Uncle Greg. And mommy has a sister too. My sister is Aunt Leah!!"
Lennox - "yeah, and everett..."
Me - "Well, close, Aunt Leah is Everett's mommy."
Lennox - "Yeah, and Avery is Aunt Leah's mommy..."
Me - "ok then."

Maybe Lennox's teacher can just skip teaching him the family structure because clearly he already understands it! ha

The things you say!

About 2 weeks ago, our family was having a rough week. By "our family" I mostly mean I was having a rough week and everyone else was along for the brutal ride. Anyway, we had a little incident while getting a haircut. By "incident" I mean that Lennox slapped the haircut lady in the face. Yes, I am serious. Yes, I was mortified. Yes, I think he understands that if he EVER does that again (to anyone), he is going DOWN! So, the next day (post slapping episode), I came home from work and he was in another one of his 2 year old moods. I was in another one of my 30 year old moods. I don't even remember what Lennox did but I looked at Jay and said "He is being such a brat!!!" Yes, I know that is bad parenting. Yes, I know that I should NEVER call my kid names (I never do). Yes, I thought he wouldn't hear me. Yes, I was wrong... again. Lennox turned around and gave me the meanest look and said "NO Mommy! I can't like a RAT!" ha ha. I had to laugh (and thank God he thought I called him a rat).
