Me

So I started my last prerequisite for PA school this semester. I went to the Junior College to pick up my book. Since I didn't know where the bookstore was located, I just went into the first building I saw. Standing in front of me were two students... obviously they were just out of high school. They were directing people to Parent's Night. When they saw me in the hallway looking confused, they politely asked if I were there for Parent's Night. WTH? Why didn't they just spit in my face? SERIOUSLY... it's physically impossible for me to have a child at JuCo! :(

I had my PA school interview this past weekend. It was Friday & Saturday morning. I was basically a total basket case by Wednesday. I really thought I was going to crumble under the stress so I did what works for me... I shut her down. That's right. I didn't think about PA school, or my house that's not sold, or uprooting my family, or living in poverty, or anything else that might make me cry. Guess what? It worked great! What I did do was pray about it alot and I just laid it all down. I know that God has a plan for me and for my family. I will wait patiently (or try) for him to reveal it to me. I went to my interview and I really liked the school and the faculty. I don't feel super confident about my chances of getting accepted because there were over 60 people interviewing for 24 spots. However, I know that if the PA thing doesn't work out, there are other things in store for me. I am comfortable with that and confident that my life is not going to end up in the toilet (as I thought it would last week). I have other ideas that I am excited to explore if I have the opportunity. I will let you people know how this turns out...

2 1/2 & 3 months

Today Stella is 3 months old! Time flies by so fast. Last night I was laying with her and I was trying to remember being pregnant and what I thought she would look like. I really can't remember much about not having her in my life. She is such a sweet baby. She smiles all over any time you talk to her now. She is really loud and squawks alot! She babbles and smiles and cooes and squeals. She tries to mimic our facial expressions. I find that I say "Heeeyyy.... hey! hey baby!" all of the time and she says something back that sounds just like "hey!" :) So, I guess she's talking, right? She is not rolling over yet but she is trying very hard. She arches her back and picks up her butt while she pushes with her feet. I can't walk away from her while she is on the changing table anymore... the minute I do, that will be the time she gets all the way over (and onto the floor). She is putting on some chub, which I LOVE! Her little cheeks are chubby and she is packing on the leg rolls. She still spits up alot but I guess it isn't affecting her weight gain. She has outgrown most of her 3 month sleepers. She doesn't sleep through the night yet but we are working toward it. She still sleeps with me but I am starting to put her in her crib for a while. I just have a hard time with her being so far way... What is that, like 50 feet? It's alot to me. She is changing from a newborn into a big baby too quickly. She started going to her baby sitter 3 days a week. This is week 3. It is so strange to leave your child with someone who is a stranger to you. I have never had to do that so it was a new experience for me. I won't lie, it was hard. If I were Lennox I would tell the sitter "I can't like to leave my baby with you!" But, Stella seems to be perfectly happy and I am confident that the sitter is a wonderful person. I just don't know her personally so it is a weird feeling. I guess alot of moms have to deal with that feeling. I am just thankful that it is only 3 days a week.

Lennox is officially 2 1/2! He is such a big boy. I laugh at that boy all day long though. He is such a mixture of pure joy and pure hard headedness! ha. He is so stubborn and head strong but also so much fun. He just laughs and plays until the mood hits him and BAM! He's throwing toys and throwing fits and "can't like this" and "can't like that!" Poor guy. His bad genes mixed with his 2 year old tendencies can be a nasty combination! He is officially potty trained. He has even been sleeping in undies for a week! I am so proud of him. We have relaxed a good bit on asking 438 times a day if he needs to go potty. He pretty much tells us now. He usually runs in and says "hurry my peepee is coming!" So, we RUN. He loves to watch his "moodies" and his favorite is still "toy tory tee." I kept asking him to say "toy tory tee" last night b/c it makes me laugh and he said "no mama. I already said that." Well, he told me! Other things he says that make me laugh are "actually" and "also." I'm not sure where he got that from but he sounds so grown up when he says them. He says everything but some things don't come out quite right. When we are in the car and I want him to go to sleep, I tell him we are going on a snooze cruise (I copied my Aunt Renae). He used to say yeah, let's go to "snooze clues." He thought it was a destination but then he would asleep before we arrived! I think he's catching on bc lately he says he can't like to go to "snooze clues." I want to go to my "hone." (home) He also things knights are called "knifes." I tried to explain that it's called a knight, pronounced like "night" time and day time. He said, "no these knifes can't like day time!" Whatever! I will also tell on myself and say that I need to clean up my mouth. I am not perfect so I'm not going to pretend that I am. Last week Lennox got in the back of my car to get in his seat and he said "there's many a crap back here!" I said, hold on... what did you say. He repeated "there's many a crap back here!" Honestly, if you have ever been in my car, you know there was definitely many a crap back there. But, I don't want to have a 2 year old who says crap! ha. I told Jay that was his fault b/c he says crap alot. I am more prone to the s-word. :( I know. We are making a conscious effort to not teach our child to use profanity. Yes, the world thanks me, I know. In other news, last week at the teddy bear clinic at school, Lennox was weighed and measured. 31.4 lbs and 36"!!! WHOO HOOO!!! 2.5 inches since his 2nd birthday. Not bad for 6 months. I am just hoping he will be taller than 5' 5" like previously projected. Yes, that is shallow, I know this and I still hope he is taller than 5' 5".

There are things in life that you just expect and then there are things that completely take you by surprise. I'm not talking about the big things, just little things that surprise you and make you smile.

Something that happened this week that I totally expected:

Stella getting hungry after two hours and blowing out her diaper while I had her with me at a doctor's appointment. I am not sure how infants know just when to blow it out but it seems that it is always in public (church, birthday parties, doctor's appointments).

Something unexpected:

Finding Jay busy at the dining room table coloring in a Dora coloring book... by himself! ha.

Camping

Jay's family has a tradition of going camping together after Christmas. Jay & Lennox went this year but Stella & I had to skip this trip. Maybe next year... Looks like they had a good time.

Texas Christmas

After brunch Christmas morning, we rode over to Debbie's house for a while then we hurried back home to pack up and head to Texas. I guess we underestimated the packing up time frame because we didn't leave until about 2 hours after we intended to. Then, we got stuck for over an hour in Baton Rouge... traffic there is always a mess! So, we ended up in a hotel in Shreveport. The kids were ready to get in a bed and so were we. We got to my sister's house the next morning and stayed for 3 days. My brother was also running behind. He missed his flight on Christmas day and then he was the very last flight out of Baltimore before the airport shut down for the blizzard! We were so thankful that everyone finally made it and we were all able to be together as a family.
It's a hockey player, no it's a golfer, no... its a 2 year old with a weapon. Watch out!

Uncle Greg in his new snuggie (uniform)... look, he's already asleep.

yay... thanks for the noise makers

Meme bought Avery and Ivy these dresses... all I can say is they are SO AVERY!

Stella is REALLY excited about her first Christmas!

Christmas morning was really fun. My parents and Jay's parents were here when Lennox woke up. I actually had to wake him up and he jumped out of bed. When he came in the living room he was a little upset. I think when I said "Santa is coming" I did him a great injustice by failing to mention that Santa is not staying... he is coming while you sleep and then leaving. Although Lennox was disappointed not to see Santa in the living room, all disappointment quickly faded when he realized there were toys!
The main thing Lennox wanted from Santa was a crane with a "claw." He also wanted a train and a horn. He got all of those things but the things he loved most were far less expensive (a good lesson for me). He loved the shaving cream for the shower, his scissors, and a $2 harmonica! He has actually played ALOT with everything he got... musical instruments, crafts, art supplies, Buzz Lightyear, etc.
On a side note, I was at the Christmas Eve festivities and I was there on Christmas day. There is not one single photo of me at either event... not one single photo of me in the background even. There isn't even a photo of me the whole holiday... including our trip to Texas!? I would not normally like having photos taken of myself but I do want my children to know (when I'm not around) that I was there every step of the way. Oh well. I guess they will be smart enough to figure out someone had to take the pictures.
