Baby Showers

I have some really great friends and family who have given us some awesome baby showers. Everyone has been so thoughtful and generous. I'm always overly emotional but it's really bad now... I have cried several times because I just feel unworthy of what everyone has done for us. I know it's not really for me though, it is for the baby. That makes me feel a little better!

Friends & Family Shower

My niece Briana made the cutest diaper cake for the shower

(my sister, me, mom) My sister flew in from Texas for the shower. I didn't think she would be able to come so I was totally surprised when she showed up that morning! It meant so much to me... (shed a tear)

Joni, Amy, Amy, Ginger, and me. Ging drove all the way from Clarksdale to hang out with me!

I'm not a fan of being the center of attention

Getting ready...

This is what was on the Babies R Us gift card I got from the people at work. Ha... so funny!

More presents...

The girls I am in Junior Auxiliary with gave me a shower at our July meeting and then coaches Jay works with and their wives had a cookout for us. They made tons of food, which makes me happy, but they also gave us plenty of diapers and wipes!

I am going to paint a banner behind the plane with his name... when he gets one!

Ridiculous amount of clothes!

What about Baby?

Just to catch everyone up (assuming anyone will read this), our baby is due August 1st. There is no indication so far that he has any plans of showing up early. He does not have a name yet. And, no... we are NOT keeping it a secret, we just haven't decided. Neither of us are very decisive people. Since we only have a few weeks left, we will probably just wait and see what he looks like before we name him. I don't want my baby to have a name that doesn't fit his face!

The baby's room is almost finished. I need a few more things for the wall and he needs a name so I can order the letters to hang over his bed. I will post pictures of the nursery when I figure out how. It turned out so cute!

After ordering about 50 swatches and searching for just the right color blue, I finally picked out fabric. My mom ended up making the bedding and it is exactly what I pictured. She worked so hard and did such a great job... I wish I had that talent. She also recovered his chair.

My dad, mom, and Uncle Sammy refinished a book case that came from my Mama Ninnie's (great grandmother) home. It was a pretty ragged piece of furniture that Mama Ninnie used for a pantry. I always knew I would find a place for it. I think it looks great in the nursery and it adds a little piece of history. Apparently it originally belonged to my great great grandparents... that's OLD!

So... the nursery is basically complete, our bags are packed, his clothes are washed, the house is semi-clean... the only thing left for me to do is wait. Waiting is so much fun when you're 9 months pregnant!

First Blog Post

Since blogging seems to be the cool thing to do, I have decided that I want to be cool too! I have thought about creating a blog many times but I never thought I would have anything to blog about. Now that Jay and I are about to have our first baby, I thought life might be getting a little more interesting. I want our friends and family to be able to watch our baby grow... even if it's just in pictures. I also want to have a place to capture all of the priceless moments that mothers intend to write in a baby book but probably won't ever get to...
