21 months

  • You keep saying "Eeewwee Weee, All white" I don't know where you got that from but you say it all the time

  • You are loving some rap music and you cry if I turn the radio station... I'm sure that's not very good parenting but whatever

  • You said "shut up" after hearing the ever so tactful Khloe Kardashian say it. I don't think you even know what it means so I didn't make a big deal about it. Again, Keeping Up with the Kardashians is probably not the best choice of television program for a one year old but it's so hard to turn it off!!! I really do want to try my best to preserve your innocence.

  • You are counting to eleven really well. I guess the number of the day being 16 really paid off! You still pretend 7 doesn't exist though. When we sing the ABC's you join in on a few letters instead of just humming the tune. You're recognizing some letters (E, O, L, X) on occasion but every very time I think you know them, you give me the clueless face. I thought you had finally mastered the basic colors too but suddenly everything has become red.

  • Your new favorite book is an Elmo book with pictures of stuff you have to find in the scene... like the toilet paper in the bathroom. You're pretty good at matching the pictures.

  • You have a recent obsession with dump trucks, bull dozers, back hoe's, buses, and motorcycles. Every time we pass one on the road, you yell & point and say "dunk" for dump truck & "bat-toe" for back hoe/bull dozer & "bull dus" for school bus. Maybe we need speech therapy!? ha. Oh, the "too too tain" is also a very important fixture in our lives. It gets thrown across the room numerous times a day though. You can't seem to figure out how to hook the car in the hole of the engine. Anyway, I just laugh and show you again. I understand where your temper comes from...

  • We found a little baby turtle and I thought you would just love it. I held it and showed it to you. After I put it down on the ground you tried to whack it with a gold club. Lucky for the cute little baby turtle, you missed. I had a stern talk with you about how animals are our friends and we have to be nice & easy with them. You said you understood. Feeling like I had done a good job at teaching you this lesson, I let you go and you went and stomped right on the turtle. Good thing for turtle shells. :(

  • Every time I get off the phone you look at me and say "who dat?" When the phone rings or beeps with a text you run and pick it up and said "who dis?" ha. You are very polite about it though... you only ask after we hang up.

  • At your last doctor's appt you had to get shots. It wasn't pretty but I didn't think you would remember. When you went to the doctor's office with Erica, you screamed and cried and said "no hurt" when the nurse came in. You weren't even there for you! Then, yesterday, you went to the doctor with me and as soon as we went into the exam room, you started to cry saying "no hurt mommy, no hurt." That's pretty sad. I am not looking forward to the next visit to your doctor... I'm afraid it probably will hurt!

  • You definitely have your mother's lack of caution when it comes to running into things and falling down. You are constantly hitting your head on the floor, skinning your knees, and most recently you scratched the skin off of your nose and upper lip at a birthday party.

  • You are still super friendly and social. I really can't keep up with you at birthday parties. You are all over the place, trying to play with the older kids, eating off stranger's plates, sitting in kid's plates, etc. I'm glad you are a busy kid but it is exhausting.

  • You cry when the train passes or an airplane flies out of view. You just can't understand where they are going?!

  • You are looking like a big boy now. You are getting taller and thinner. You won't eat like you did when you were a baby. Mostly you just chew up your food and spit it out... unless it's a nack. You have been sitting at the table with us instead of in your high chair. You run to the window if you think Jay is home and say "daddy home mommy!" You like to announce alot of things like "Daddy peepee in potty" or "Yoyo poopoo out dere." You are really fascinated that dogs poop in the yard... I can only guess where that will lead!

Happy Halloween 2010

*Disclaimer: I do not know this baby but it is cute!
We're expecting a new baby at the end of October!!
I am currently 11 weeks along. I feel ok, just nauseous in the afternoon. I am starting to get some energy back which is a relief. I was starting to feel like a permanent attachment to the recliner. All in all, I feel pretty good and I am thankful that I have not had my head in the toilet !!! I had an ultrasound at 8 1/2 weeks. I can't remember exactly but I think the heartbeat was about 170. I think I feel pretty similar to how I felt with Lennox. I am definitely showing faster but that is to be expected with a 2nd baby (& the 5lbs I never lost from Lennox... but that's another story). I am craving breakfast food so much lately. I have got to get some self control and stop getting my breakfast food at McDonald's/Sonic!
We are all very excited about the new addition to our family but we are anxious about some big decisions we have to make between now and then. Although I have faith that God will provide for us, I am almost certainly developing an ulcer over the worry of being laid off, Jay changing jobs, not knowing where we will be, not knowing if we will sell our house, starting school, and the list goes on and on. Apparently, I'm much more of a control freak than I had previously thought!? Although we are facing so big changes, I do feel confident that we are moving in the right direction. Doors seem to be opening for us so I feel like that is God's way of assuring us we're making the right decisions.

Bunny Pictures

The pant less boys... Jenson, Conner, Tristan, & Lennox. The three on the left are my great-nephews.

I didn't prepare well for these pictures... the navy shoes were all that was in the bag.

UGH. I could squoosh it!

Lennox trying to man handle Jenson... typical.

Poor bunny...

Is he not so cute?!

20 months

You recognize the difference in boys & girls. You get most of them right in books but not always in person.

You are saying new words everyday. Just about anything you can repeat but your F's are B's or P's... like fish is "Pish." You have started saying these Alot "OOoo.What dis?" or "ooooOOoo. Who Dat?"

You went on your 3rd airplane ride & cooperated very well. I don't know how people fly alone with toddlers for more than 1.5 hours. I exhausted every means of entertaining you, as well as, myself. You were apparently paying lots of attention at the airport and in the plane. We were watching a show (Golden Girls) and Rose was getting off the plane in the terminal, You said... Oooo... Airpane. In your landscapes book you point at the lake and say "Airpane" because that's what you saw most of the way flying over the swamps.

Out of no where you started recoginizing fleur de lis' and saying "saints."

You went to your 18 month checkup and were 26.2 lbs. Still 2 lbs less than before you had pneumonia. You were 32.5" long but I think that was wrong. You were having a fit & the nurse gave zero effort at accuracy. You were off of your growth curve so that's why I think it's wrong.

I still can't get you to say Lennox, I love you, please, or thank you. Hmmm... I think you're tricking.

I think we're entering the terrible two's or else you've been in a very bad mood lately. You are whining alot and having a fit over nothing... not that fits are new. You usually get REALLY ticked off when I tell you no but you obey, somewhat. Lately you just fall apart over everything though. Maybe it's one of my favorites excuses that "you're just tired" or "you're off your schedule!"

Also, just yesterday I told you no and you yelled NO in my face. Then I grabbed your hand and said "Stop it... you don't tell mommy no" and you said "You STOP!" UGHHHHHHHH.... If only we had not been in a restaurant at the time, I think we could have made that whole "you don't tell mommy no" a little more clear. I also attribute this bad behavior to being in presence of grandparents. You know that they let you do whatever you want so you just try to get away with being sassy pants in front of them. I was informed that "they don't teach him that." Well, duh. Nor do you teach him any rules. Oh, my bp is rising so I'll stop...

19 Months

New Tricks:

- I say "L" you say "E." I say "N-N" and you say "O X!" I have no clue if you know what you're doing but you do have a good memory. Last night in the tub you did pick up an L and say "L" then and O and say "O."

- You actually shoot the basketball at the goal and you have made it a few times. If you make it, you say "YESTH" and if you miss you say "Oh Man" or "I MISTHED." Yes, I think we have a potential lisp! ha.

- You are getting good at eating soup but you prefer to drink out of the bowl... or "gink" it.

- You sit on the potty before bathtime and say "PSSSSTTTTT" but nothing comes out, even when you grab it and squeeze... not sure why you think that will work!

- You don't really call animals their names you just tell me the sound they make. I asked you if you wanted a bite of rotissiere chicken and you kept saying "bock bock" when you wanted more.

Developments:
- When you jump, both feet clear the ground.

- You are great at throwing and have started trying to catch.

- You learned how to hit the ball with the bat if the ball is still.

- You can hit the golf ball with the golf club

- You finally got a molar... just one though

- You still tell me when you have poop. You still won't poop in the potty.

- You seem to be catching on to colors and shapes. I thought the color situation was just not going to happen any time soon but on Monday you pointed to a dinosaur on your PJs and said "Yellow" and then pointed to another one and said "Red." You were right and I was impressed.

- You can drink out of a big cup without a sippy top but you can't get it off the table and carry it to the living room without spilling... and then stomping through it and wiping it with your hands.

What you love right now:
- Taking tops off of bottles or lids off of containers then putting them back on.

- Your books and your balls. Why did I waste so much money on the other toys.

- Melmo & Dora and you've developed a new love for Mouth... (Mickey Mouse Club House)

- Your pappey (pacifier). I know you shouldn't really have it at all or at least only in bed but I just think it's cute when you ask for Pappey... I guess I need to take it away soon. That's going to be painful.

- You sleep with your 2 stuffed Elmos, pappey, and your stuffed football. You try to gather them all up to take with you when you wake up.

- then the same old stuff you've always loved: Grandparents, animals, outside, baths, snacks

We still haven't made if for your 18 month visit but when you went in the first time with pneumonia you weighed 28.2 lbs. They didn't measure your length.
