SHARK!

So just in case some of you haven't been enlightened to bucket-free mopping, this is your lucky day! My sister pulled this contraption out last time I was at her house and I decided it was a must have. If you haven't seen it, it's a steam mop with a washable head. It's awesome. It cleans with steam so no chemicals, no dirty mop buckets, no wringing out the mop, no drying out the mop. I love it. I was slightly disturbed when I saw how dirty the cleaning pads were when I was finished but I felt good about how clean my floor was. It is a little pricey but I definitely think it's worth it especially if you have little ones crawling, laying, sliding on the floor, sometimes eating from the floor, constantly throwing food on the floor or dumping their sippy cup out.

Lennox at 13 months

  • At 13 months, he's finally walking. He's been toddling around for about 2 weeks but he still prefers to crawl. It's pretty cute how he holds his hands out in front of him and starts walking really fast so that he gets to his destination before he hits the floor.
  • Mama is his new favorite word. It's funny because he loved to say dada for the longest time. Now he refers to Jay as "ma-ma" too. He says it like a teenager would when they yell for their mom to find their favorite jeans or something "Ma-Maaa"
  • He points the tv remote at the tv hoping to change the channel. He holds the phone to his ear and says "lello?!" He says "'Mo" and looks at the TV if you ask "did you see Elmo?"
  • He starts barking every time he sees a dog on TV. Yesterday I asked him if he wanted yogurt and he barked! ha. It does makes sense though because our dog's name is Yogi. I guess he was a little confused!
  • He has been sick this week with a fever. It's not the flu... I took him to the doctor right away. It's just fever and runny nose and a very needy baby!!
  • He thinks he is ready for big boy toys. instead of baby stuff he likes to play with blocks, cars, cars, trucks, cars, and, as always, balls.
  • He has started to lay down in his bed by himself again for naps and bedtime. He cries a little but he gets over it quickly. That is definitley bittersweet for me. I love, love, love to rock him to sleep with his head on my shoulder & his hands in my hair. However, it's not so much fun if anything in our schedule changes and their are new faces/toys/environments or just him deciding that he's not ready for bed.
  • He loves to put on shoes. Loves it. He sits in the floor and tries to put on my shoes or his own. Then he brings me shoes to put on him. When I take them off, he cries most of the time. Weird but I love to wear shoes too. No, not just cute shoes. I just wear my shoes until I take a shower for bed. I don't take my shoes off until then. I have often been found napping in shoes. I know... let's don't discuss it.
  • He still hates getting his diaper changes, hates getting dressed, hates being strapped into the carseat. He loves bathtime, animals, little kids, hangers, putting clothes on his head... he throws socks up and they land on his head and he crawls around like that until they fall off and he does it again? I know, weird. He loves getting in and out of his rocking chair, his car, playing with toilet paper.
  • This week he pooped on the floor and in the tub! Gross I know... that's a 13 month old for ya! Oh, he also got put in the corner for hitting me in the face. I had to do it. He sat there and he was so mad. He was throwing his hands and fussing at me. He didn't move though. I was serious for all of that 30 seconds but I had to turn my back to keep from laughing. What a big attitude in a tiny little body!

Fat Head

With those balloons. They are still hanging around from the party. He loves balloons.

24 lbs 4 oz (~75%)
31.5" (~90%)
head was 95% but can't remember the inches

Looks like Lennox is thinning out even though he is NOT WALKING yet. He has a big head but that's ok, I do too. At least he's back on the growth curve. At one point it looked like his head circumference was going to blast off the charts. I hope there is a big brain in there!

More Birthday Pictures

Lennox appreciates all of his gifts, even if his face doesn't show it!

Giving Kinsley a goodbye hug (and maybe an apology for jerking her out of his car?)

Jenson likes the party food!

Lennox is obsessed with balloons. He is still playing with the balloons (or balls as he calls them) from the party.

Party Time

How cute

See that snaggle tooth!?

For ME again?!

I love being the center of attention!

Happy Birthday Boy!

So the party was Sunday afternoon and I swear I almost worked myself to death. I didn't have a clue how much work goes into parties. I think next year we'll just write someone a check! I think it turned out great though. Of course, as is with all summer birthday parties planned for the outdoors, a thunderstorm started rolling in about 15 minutes before the party started. I was getting really nervous because my house is NOT big enough for all of the kids that were there. Luckily, the rain didn't come down until the party was almost over. PERFECTO! I think Lennox had a good time. He ate his 3rd cup cake. The cake was so cute and matched his outfit perfectly. Thanks for Joni for ordering the cake and making sure it turned out just right. She has the hook up at the bakery!
Gotta run but more pictures of the party to come soon....

Cake Balls

In their home made holder, supposed to look like a cup cake

The plain old cake balls

I am posting this because I was so proud of myself for being very M. S. (that might stand for Martha Stewart or for Melanie Spring). I made cake balls and cake pops. My friend Mel told me I should make the cupcake cake pops like Bakerella and I laughed. I thought that was way out of my league, being that I'm an amateur at making cake balls. I felt inspired on Friday and decided to try making them for the party favors. I think they turned out pretty cute. They weren't perfect but it's my first try.

The Actual Birthday

Still drooling... since he only has 3 teeth, this will probably last a while

See my cute birthday outfit?! Jay refers to it as a dress!

See how smart he is... he's holding up #1. Or not.

Oooo

So good.

It's my party and I'll cry if I want to... especially if you take away my cupcake

Is it Gone Gone?

What's in here?

I love this car and I will drag you out of it if you try to get in (Reagan & Kinsley know this first hand)

We had a few cupcakes for the family on Lennox's actual birthday. He, once again, thoroughly enjoyed his cupcake. Several of people give me a hard time that I am picky about what Lennox eats. You will all be happy to know that he ate his entire cupcake made with real sugar. He pretty much sucked the icing right off the top. It was pretty funny because he just held it to his mouth and wouldn't put it down. He laughed and giggled all the while the cupcake was stuck to his face.
